Kilquhanity Children’s Village is part of four school sites based in Japan that have developed education inspired by the teachings of John Aitkenhead, A. S. Neill and John Dewey, and many others.

As a result of the vision of Shin-ichiro Hori;
a Japanese educator who agreed with the values and principles practised by John Aitkenhead,
Kilquhanity is still the only progressive education centre in Scotland.

Principles and values of community, freedom, sociability, equality and creativity
are the life-blood of activities here at Kilquhanity Children’s Village.
