Headteacher of Kilquhanity Childrens Village, Andrew Pyle holds an M.Phil (Glasgow) in Educational Philosophy, is a trained facilitator in Philosophical Inquiry and has worked for over twenty years in ‘special needs’ education as a teacher and senior manager. He has also worked in mainstream schools as a Biology and Science teacher.


Andrew attended Kilquhanity School as a pupil in the late 1960s.

In 2008/9 Andrew was a part-time tutor at Strathclyde University department of Education on the ‘Barriers to Learning’ module for teacher trainees and in 2010 will be one of the tutors for the EPIC (European Philosophical Inquiry Centre) and International CoPI (Community of Philosophical Inquiry) residential training Phil1 course based at Kilquhanity Childrens Village.
